Once upon a time, there lived a family with 2 wonderful children. They played together, they fought together, they laughed together, and they cried together. Life was sweet. Until one day their Mom asked them to clean up their rooms.
The boy said, "Ok Mom."
The girl said, "Ok!"
And they went skipping off to their rooms.
The Mom, satisfied with their willingness to do just as she asked, resumed her usual position in the kitchen slaving over a decadent 5 course meal in her properly sanitized and clean working space.
Five or ten minutes had gone by, and the Mother decided to check on the cleaning endeavors of the 2 young children. To her dismay when she got upstairs to their rooms, she saw NO children, nay, all she could see were TOYS TOYS TOYS!!!
"Why, the children haven't been cleaning at all," the Mother exclaimed in utter shock.
She set off to find the 2 young children, and she came to find them nestled on the couch cushions lost in an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
"What is the meaning of this!!!" the Mother screams.
" Ok, ok, we will go clean up," says the boy lazily with an annoyed look on his face.
But before the 2 young children could get to their rooms to finish the toy cleaning, a white sheet like object came swooping in and started to eat the kids toys!!!!!!!!!! He had a mean, evil grin on his face, and he was really hungry that day. The kids, frantic at what was happening, started to scream and wail and try to pick the toys up before this thing swallowed all their priceless transformers and dollies.
"I'ts all my fault!!!!!!!!!!" the little girl wailed through fountains of tears.
The Mother explained who this white creature was, and told them that from this day forward "Gunnysack" was going to eat any toys that are left on the floor. She also told them that if they were to pick up all their toys without their Mommy asking, then "Gunnysack" would spit out all the toys he had eaten!
And to this day, toys are left on the floor and "Gunnysack" still gets 3 meals a day in the house with the 2 young children. Maybe someday they will learn.

This is a horrible picture. Its all dark and burry. Oh well. So there you have it. What do you think?? Is Gunnysack a good idea?? today was the FIRST day in the l ast 3 weeks that Gunnysack spit out all their toys- 3 weeks worth- because they cleaned up what they were playing with before leaving it, and I didn't even have to tell them to do it!!! So I think something is finally starting to click with them. Thank goodness.

OKay you know that children's book you've been meaning to write?? Well here it is!! Seriously, it's really cute! And you could make it into a series...The Gunnysack series!!!
Anything that works is a great idea. And yah, throw those stories in a book for the lil ones when they're older.
I love it! I am not as creative though, seeing as I use a regular old black garbage bag and toss it out into the garage. We might be stepping it up a notch around here!
Oh my gosh! Way to go on that one Amy. I'm totally doing that too.
I got it from Joy School when I was a little girl. There is a song and everything, I just dont remember it.
Wow, you've inspired mom's across the nation! I will be passing this idea along, via blog. GENIUS! PURE GENIUS! (sp)
